Fried Cabbage

My sister makes this occasionally, and it's always well received. The cabbage turns out quite tender, and the acidity of the vinegar balances the sweetness of the cabbage and the sugar. Use a more firm apple, like a Golden Delicious, otherwise the apple will turn to mush.

Fried Cabbage
2 Tbsp butter or oil
1 whole medium head green cabbage, core removed and shredded
1 apple, cored and cut into chunks
1 Tbsp brown sugar
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
salt and pepper to taste

Heat butter on medium heat until melted in large pan or electric griddle, then add shredded cabbage and brown sugar. Cook for 10-30 minutes, until soft. Add vinegar and salt and pepper to taste, halfway through time.
